Couchwave is made by RedLogic. This page covers this website and the Couchwave app as they work today. It will be updated before accounts open and before any new feature that handles more information.
This website
- No cookies, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party scripts or fonts.
- Like most web servers, ours logs each request: the internet address, the page, the time and the browser type. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, and delete them after 14 days.
Your Couchwave account
- When you open an account we keep your email address, your subscription status, and the TVs linked to it: the names you give them, the app version, and their internet address and time when they last checked in (only the latest, overwritten each time). We use these to run your account and stop misuse.
- Each time you download Couchwave we note the time, the version, and the internet address and browser type it was downloaded with, so a download link can't be passed around. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash; we can't read it.
- Payments are handled by our payment processor. They receive your card details directly; we never see or store your full card number. We keep only what we need to run your subscription, such as the processor's customer and subscription references and your billing history.
- Network storage passwords or service logins you enter on the website are stored encrypted, and sent only to your own TVs, encrypted so only they can read them.
- We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
- Closing your account deletes your TVs, their settings and stored passwords. We keep billing records for as long as tax law requires.
The contact form
- What you send (your name, how to reach you and your message) is stored on our server and emailed to us, so we can reply. We use it only to answer you, and delete it after a year.
- The form uses a small script from this site to tell people from spam bots. It sets no cookies.
The Couchwave app
- Your service login stays on your TV box. The login or playlist address from your provider is stored on the box and sent only to your provider.
- What you watch stays on your TV box. Watch history, resume points and My List are kept on the box. We don't collect what you watch.
- Update checks. About once a day the app asks couchwave.tv whether a new version is available. That request includes your internet address and is logged like any website visit (above).
- Public information. To show sports schedules, Top 10 lists, poster images and the correct time, the app downloads public information from other websites. Those requests never include your login, your account or what you watch.
- Network storage and home media servers are reached directly over your home network. Nothing passes through us.
Your provider
Your TV service comes from your own provider, not from Couchwave. Your provider's own privacy policy covers what they collect.
If your provider sets up your TV through Couchwave, they can see whether it's active, its app version, its internet address and when it last checked in. They never see what you watch, your network storage or your Couchwave account details.
